What States Allow RON?

Long gone are the days of needing to leave your home for, well… anything. Thanks to spending virtually two years doing everything we once did outside, from the inside of our homes we’ve gotten quite accustomed to solving all our needs with the click of a couple buttons. 

It’s no surprise that the traditional services that once required in-person attendance are now available online — therapy, doctor visits, classes, interviews, and now notarization. 

Remote Online Notarization (RON) first stepped onto the scene in 2011 when the commonwealth of Virginia became the first state to authorize remote online notarization. At the time of this blog post, 40 states have passed legislation that allows for remote online notarization. 

If you live in a state that allows for remote online notarization, be sure to check with your state for the specific requirements of how to operate as a remote online notary.

In order to legally perform your duties as a RON you will need to have access to a platform that offers secure end-to-end remote notarization technology.
